The Absence of Princess Kate at Duke of Westminster’s Wedding

Princess Kate, also known as the Princess of Wales, has been noticeably absent from the public eye in recent months due to her undergoing preventative chemotherapy following a cancer diagnosis. This absence has raised questions among royal watchers about her appearance at the Duke of Westminster’s wedding. While many were hoping to catch a glimpse of the royal at the event, her husband Prince William attended the wedding solo, acting as an usher in a private capacity.

It is understandable that Princess Kate would prioritize her health and family over royal duties during this challenging time. With three young children – Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis – all attending school, Kate most likely chose to stay at home in Windsor to take care of her family. Royal sources have indicated that Kate will not be returning to royal duties anytime soon, as she requires privacy and space to focus on her recovery.

Hugh Grosvenor, the seventh Duke of Westminster, recently tied the knot with Olivia Henson at Chester Cathedral in a private ceremony surrounded by their nearest and dearest. Despite speculation that Prince George might attend the wedding as the Duke’s godson and possibly act as a page boy, it was revealed that the ten-year-old did not participate in the event. This decision was likely influenced by the fact that the wedding took place on a school day and the potential precedent it would set for taking children out of school for such occasions.

The Duke of Westminster shares a close bond with Prince William and Princess Kate, having been named as one of Prince George’s godparents. Princess Kate has also collaborated with Hugh’s sister, Lady Edwina, in the past, demonstrating the closeness between the two families. While it is unclear whether King Charles and Queen Camilla, who also have a strong relationship with the Grosvenor family, attended the wedding, it was confirmed that Prince William was the only royal present at the ceremony.

Notably, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex, Harry and Meghan, were absent from the Duke of Westminster’s wedding as well. Despite their longstanding friendship with Hugh, who is also a godfather to their son Archie, the Sussexes did not attend the event. This absence further highlights the personal choices that members of the royal family make in balancing their public duties with their private lives.
