The devastating news was announced by Obi’s sister, Nkem Ndefo, through a heartfelt Facebook post on August 31. Nkem shared a touching photo of her and her late brother embracing, expressing her profound sadness and stating, “Heartbroken at the loss of my younger brother and knowing he’s finally at peace.”
Katie, who had the opportunity to work with Obi on Dawson’s Creek, took to Instagram on September 1 to honor his memory. Through her Instagram Stories, Katie posted a tribute to Obi, including a screenshot from a post made by their co-star Mary-Margaret Humes. In her tribute, Katie described Obi as a wonderful and kind man to work with, sending prayers and grace to his family and ending with a heartfelt message of “Rest in Peace.”
